Margaret River Guest House, Australia by Gneb.

People usually come to Margaret River for 2 reasons: 1. the wines – as this is one of the world’s most famous winemaking regions; 2. the chocolates – sample some of Australia’s best chocolates at the Margaret River Chocolate Factory. Otherwise and honestly, this could be a rather remote place. We were there for 3 days and 2 nights, which although were a bit boring at times (especially at night), but were nevertheless very enjoyable.

We stayed at the family owned Margaret River Guest House, which is just across the road from the town centre. The guest house has only 6 rooms. All of them are clean and nicely decorated. All of them also have ensuites, air conditioners, electric blankets and hot water which are definitely all things of necessity in the bleak winter weather.

This is how the guest house looks like from the outside
This is the ever so cosy and homelike living room. If you have nothing else better to do at night, you can sit next to the fireplace with a good book and a cuppa hot tea.

The owners (Peter and Debbie) are very friendly and approachable. Everyday, Debbie would bake some cakes and put them in the living room. A definite must try!

Mid-winter Christmas in July!

The rooms are nicely decorated down to the smallest detail.

The bathroom is very clean.

There’s flat panel TV in every room

Open the glass door to the veranda. You’ll get the fresh air plus the view of the lush greenery surrounding the guest house. We had take-away fish and chips one night and this was exactly where we had it. It was quite an experience!

So, what’s for breakfast? Debbie and Peter cooked us the following, on top of the buffet style cereal and fruit juices.

Day 1:
Combination of fried tomato and mushroom, bacon, sausage, hash brown and scrambled egg on toast.

Day 2:
Egg Benedict
