Topvalu: My New Snack by Gneb

I usually reach work at 8.30am and by the time I step into my office, I’ll most likely be stuck in front of my laptop reading emails and getting ready for the day. Otherwise, I’ll be rushing for morning meetings. This leaves me literally no time for breakfast. Oh well, blaming it on myself for waking up late and that few minutes of lie-in.

So, I normally stock up my cabinets with some handy snacks like cereal bars and biscuits. However, I just get bored of them after having them every day for some time.

I recently saw Topvalu at Jusco Supermarket, Queensbay at the Japanese food aisle. From the tiny English label, this is an energy snack / supplement thingy (if only I could make more sense out of the Japanese characters).

I decided to buy the 2 packets of the gel base Topvalu. This costs RM4.90 each.

Verdict: Well, the taste is nice and the packaging is certainly catchy. Many of my colleagues actually came up to me after the meeting and asked me what “trendy drink” I was having. Does it work? It helps a bit as I did not feel as hungry as empty stomach. I was however still hungry after that. I guess nothing beats a packet of Nasi Lemak. One more thing, the straw is just not functioning too well that you’ll have to suck real hard at times before you get to taste what's inside.

I also bought 2 packets of the power base Topvalu, which you’ll have to mix in water.

Verdict: This is great. The lemon taste mixture is so nice that I felt like drinking lemon soda. It quenches thirst and hunger at the same time. To make it catchier, try having it in your gym’s protein shaker with some ice cubes. This will definitely catch the attention of the meeting attendees, especially if you are the chair person : )

"All-in-One" Ciggy Box by SamT

In today’s media, be it television, website, radio, cinema, magazines, journals or newspaper, the promotion of “QUIT SMOKING” or “SMOKING KILLS” tends to flash across our bare eyes every now and then. YES, smoking is bad but there are still millions of smokers out there, trying hard enough to quit.

SamT, also a smoker, used to be a heavy one, but eventually reduces and hope one day, it will reach to the socializing stage or even stop completely. Lately, with the pictures of diseases’ imprint in the ciggy box, have disgusted many smokers. It is definitely a good thing to discourage smoking and at the same time, bring awareness on the severe harm of smoking to our fragile body. But, to quit is not an easy thing, that I can acknowledge with the rest of the smokers in this world as it is very much psychologically dependence or so called “habit” for many people.

Somehow, I do not call it as lucky but more of an unlucky moment when I was brought to attention of this product, an “all-in-one” ciggy box. This plastic box can store up to 10 cigarettes plus an attached “gas filled” lighter. This might not be new in other countries I supposed, but to me, it is quite fascinating. The only set back is the trouble to transfer 10 ciggy from the “disgusted” box into the case or you might run out of your supply soon enough (without realizing) for those heavy smokers.

Well, I would say this product has its pros and cons. One way or another, it might help to reduce the intake of ciggy or with the trouble of transferring, people might just say “forget it”. Of course, not mentioning about the outlook, it is sleek and vogue as an outing gadget.

This “all-in-one” ciggy box costs in the range of MYR25 to MYR30, depending on the color or things that are printed on the plastic case. I will not act as a saint to advice you people to stop or to quit; but what I can tell you, smoking is real bad for health and if you could quit, that would be fantastic. BUT if you can’t, smoke less and work towards your objective. So, YOU DECIDE!!!

THANK YOU STANDARD CHARTERED by GNEB

I was very surprised when Pos Laju called me up last Saturday and told me that there was something for me. I suspected that to be some traffic summonses as I’ve always gotten them through Pos Laju in the past. The guy on the phone asked me if I would be at home later that day so that he could deliver the parcel to me. I was actually praying at a temple then and was struggling to hold my i-phone and the incense at the same time, so I told the guy to deliver the item this week instead, just to cut the conversation short.

The parcel finally came on Monday and I could feel the weight of the item inside was definitely much heavier than some summonses or unsolicited credit cards. As I unwrapped the parcel, I was only too surprised to have seen what I was seeing – it’s a black square box labeled Emporio Armani!! Who is it from? Who could that be?

I was so surprised the moment I unwrapped the parcel and saw this.

I couldn’t wait to open the box and I just couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that it was an Emporio Armani wrist watch inside! The leather strap smelled so good of the fresh smell of leather. I put it on my left wrist in not time!

This is the box…isn’t it amazing?

The smell of leather….hmmm…I tell you…

With certificates and all…

It was then I discovered that there was actually an envelope labeled Standard Chartered in the parcel. I read the letter and apparently, I was one of the 3000 Standard Chartered platinum credit card users who have won the Emporio Armani watch, for spending more than RM8,000 within the first 6 months (Huh? Did I spend that much??). Regardless, it cheered my day up a lot. I just couldn’t wait to wear it to work the next day.

Finally, on my wrist!

Thanks a lot Standard Chartered, for being so kind and generous :)
